Edit: I don't know why I made this thread. IDW are actually great.

I thought Telltale only got on the map, with The Walking Dead game. Isn't everything else they've done, before then, mediocre to decent?

Not really. Poker Night, Back to the Future, Wallace & Gromit, Strong Bad, Monkey Island and of course Sam and Max were all classics!

Are they just so good at writing comics that everyone wants them to write comics based on their ips?

IDW makes great comics and yes they do such a excellent job people want to see them do comics either canon with them or something else. They have been around since 2000 actually. 30 days of Night, Ghostbusters, GI Joe, Transformers, and more put them on the map. They are the go to comic company now for all types of properties because there just that good.
Also Telltale has continued there success with the Wolf Among Us which is just as great as there Walking Dead game. I can't wait to see what else they do.

Hmm.. Forgot about them doing Wallace and Gromit. And the majority of them do have pretty positive Metacritic scores. Must have had those Back to the Future and Jurassic Park scores, in my head, and thought they all were around the 60-70 range. So, you're right. My bad, sorry. :/
But yeah, I don't know. Crossovers are usually a lot more tricky, since you have to pay other companies, for their IP(s)'s usage. Like how Marvel vs. Capcom 3 did, and now the DLC characters can no longer be bought, since they let the contract with Marvel expire. Or with countless others, where the game was pulled from whatever digital storefront, it was being sold on(Deadpool, Turtles In Time: Re-Shelled, Wallace & Gromit, etc.).
Obviously, games are quite a bit different from comics, but the point I'm making, is that it probably has to do with money. Both sides have to find a compromise, for it to work.

IDW doesn't do crossovers? IDW has been getting attention for there wave of crossoves they started doing like a year or two ago. Here are the names of a few:
Past/Current Crossovers:
Infestation (Crossover with multiple IDW properties), Star Trek/Legion of Superheroes, GI Joe/Transformers, Cartoon Network Crossover (Multiple Cartoon Network cartoons people have always loved) , X-Files/Ghostbusters, Mars Attack/Popeye, Mars Attack/Transformers, and more
Future Crossovers this year:
Star Trek/Planet of the Apes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/GhostBusters
and more.
LOL Potter man where have you been? You gotta keep up. Get the previews book or check online.

Oh damn I forgot about those! Basically I meant huge Multi company crossovers, like Infestation, except they should have all the characters actually meet up.
I literally shat myself when I first heard about Star Trek VS PotA. I wonder if they'll include alternate Ape continuities like all the reboot versions? That'd be sweet.

I heard from somewhere that all the characters never actually meet up in Infestation. I thought that was one of the main reasons reviews for it are fairly poor. Sorry if I'm wrong. But say if I were an aspiring comic artist and I wanted to make comics based on different properties. There probably ain't a snowballs chance in hell of me getting as many franchises as idw have. I just want to know how they managed to get into making licensed comics.

Oh I meant the other comics I mentioned all had actually crossovers not Infestation. Infestation effected all there worlds and was sort of like a Crisis where they all were affected but the characters didn't meet up. However IDW has been doing a crapload of crossovers and has many more planned. You need to go back and read the others. Then prepare for the next great ones that are coming.

Yes, but while those crossovers are good, I would like a massive multiplayer crossover with a huge storyline. I recently bought the Infestation Omnibus. I would like to do a full review someday, but here are my thoughts. Infestation 2, as a whole, isn't as good as the first one. The motivations of the Elder Gods change in every comic, and by the end the whole thing is just a jumbled mess. IDW also kinda screwed themselves a bit, since you can't really get much more threatening than the freakin elder gods, so a sequel with an even bigger threat is unlikely. The ending was also incredibly rushed. Cross just absorbs the Elder God energy or something, and then it just ends. Mind you, even though I don't know anything about Dungeons and Dragons, I found that segment to be the most enjoyable, with Transformers coming second. The Infestation Team Up between Batboy and Archibald was also awesome, mainly for all the blatant cameos (freakin Super Soldier from Amalgam shows up! )
