The 2005 version of War of the Worlds and Starship Troopers. And any similarity between the 1995 The Scarlet Letter and the book is a mere coincidence .

Justice League: Doom.
It threw away the best aspects of the comic it was based off of, Tower of Babel, all for the sake of encouraging the idea that Batman is this always right, always prepared, all-knowing GOD.

There is another... Heh. I never saw it or the show, actually. Unless it's anime, I really haven't watched many cartoons, for the past decade or so.. Is Avatar an anime? I always thought it was made here, in America, so I just kinda passed on watching it. :/ Go watch it now! This is a cartoon series, but the show's so good a casual viewer would consider it an Anime. Hell, MyAnimeList lists it as one.

Yeah I read the book of Starship Troopers thought it was one of the best war stories I'd ever read, the movie was a travesty... even worse how it's spawned several low budget sequels. Only thing the movie had similar the book was the title and a few names. War of the Worlds yeah I think Tom Cruise is what ruined that one for me I appreciated trying to do a modernized version of the book but the execution could have been done a bit better.

Don't get me wrong I liked Ironman 3 but I was disappointed that The Mandarin was a phony, I'd been waiting for him to make an appearence since the first movie, it even seemed like they were setting it up to bring him in. I was ready for a fight between him and Tony, the movie made him seem so sinister and always ahead of the good guys. Then came the reveal and I was like... What? This must be a trick. Nope. :/

Not to mess up your thread Mercenaryblade, but the more challenging question is to find a tv show or movie that is better than the book. I'll say the movie version of Jaws was better than the book. Expolding shark anyone? Yes please

The Mandarin in Iron Man 3 was hilariously awesome. Fie on anyone who doesn't find it so.

..When y'all say, "Go watch it, now!" I'm assuming you're under the impression I have a way to do so? I don't think it's on TV, anymore, if I'm not mistaken. (Would have to be Nickelodeon; don't get Nicktoons or Nick-anything else.) And the only decent streaming device I have would be my Vita.. I'll watch a short series, every now and then, with it. But my eyes can only take so much looking at a 5 inch screen, before I get tired of it. So.. yeah. :/

It's in the Anime category on Amazon, as well. Guess it's considered one, despite being made outside Japan. Still, the last American-made(I think) cartoon I really enjoyed, of that nature, was Teen Titans. So it's been awhile. ^^;

(OT) And, Spider-Man 3, for the lose. Along with Frankenstein (1931), although I will admit it is still both awesome and charming.

Getting back on track The books weren't perfect, and it only started to deviate from the Star Wars formula in the third book, but we can all agree that the movie is AWFUL.

Huh, and here I thought the title of this thread was "movies that butchered the source material", not "movies that were true to the source material and sucked anyway"
