You know now that I think about it, I'd like there to be at least one category in the Database for "modified" characters that originated from this site. I know when I first found cbub and the UWT RP I was obsessed with finding out how the characters from those stories changed from how they were normally in there own fiction. We create a lot here and sometimes we have stories that would change a character. It could be a category us Foxferrets add to on our own. Idk...just a thought. Sounds a bit needlessly complicated to me. It's still an interesting idea. However, I don't think any of us have ever changed a character's abilities or personalities so much that they deserve their own character profiles. What about Vin and Galen? I mean their core character didnt change but there were noteable changes, right?

Even if this was a part of the database, I don't think that there would be enough characters to put in it.

Don't know too much about it other than that as I haven't read much Mistborn so I didn't want to spoil myself.

That seems unnecessary to me if someone wanted to use a character they've modified I think a simple authors note before the story would take care of that. Most of the changes to the characters are based on personality or cosmetic changes, and could probably be covered by an author's note. Even still, it was a cool idea, especially for characters with drastic changes. Examples: Aang became a metal bender, Dante (DMC) became a mistborn, Shruikan (Inheritance) grew to multiple times his original size and regained his sanity, Ben 10 became an omnipotent father (whose daughter is currently involved in the latest and final 'uwt'), ect.

And yet none of that is known to people who aren't already in that circle. I, for instance, have no clue what or where any of those changes occurred. The point is to make the Database easier to use, not more obscure.

Kind of interesting idea with having a Database section for UWT or RP versions of existing characters, but aside from what's already been mentioned, there would be others problems.
-There would be no reference links for their profiles. And even if references were created here, those would still be only one link for them, while characters profiles here and in the old EF typically have multiple links.
- When multiple versions of characters are added, we've never really had profiles for fan-made versions, only from "official", or established sources.

I suppose we could just add them to an existing character in the database sort of like how we add different versions of a character to one profile. There we could thoroughly describe that version of the character. We could use whatever RP it's from as reference and I know we've never done fan-made stuff but we do create a lot and it would be a shame for that to go waste.

If someone wants to use a modified version of a character they can just modify them in the set up, no need to make, for example, Darth Vader from Star Wars and Darth Vader from The Rift two separate characters.

I think the idea of having a section of the database dedicated to having fictional versions of real life people would be cool. I've always wanted to create a sing-off match between two or more famous artists who couldn't meet up in real life.

Certain real life figures could be added in CBUB's database as long as they had enough pop culture significance. We just have to figure out how to categorize them. Speaking of, here are some thoughts from Z451, via PM: Just more to think on.

Another thought, guys. How about characters that originate from merchandise such as toys and greeting cards? For example, many Hasbro characters, such as from the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises, originated from their respective toylines (with a few exceptions). Many of these characters also have prominence in many different media, so I personally haven't really felt comfortable placing them in a particular category of late.
So, should we also consider a separate category/sub-category for merchandise characters?
On a related note, though the TMNT franchise started as a comic book, it also has prominence over several different media, so I've been adding major TMNT characters that aren't specific to a show or comic (i.e., the Turtles themselves and Master Splinter) to Pop Culture. So there's also instances such as these to consider.

The problem with things like TMNT is just as you say, where do you put them? Comics, cartoons, video games, toys, movies?
I'd suggest, again, that it'd be easier to simply categorize everything from where it originated. And you could easily have a "Toys AND Games" category.
