That seems like reaching, I don't know, I've always thought of potions and the like as something to use after the fighting is over, if there's no center near by. Of course, not everyone thinks that way... That's a good idea though! Lol. I can't even imagine a battered pokemon crawling back to its trainer for the senzu bean treatment lol. It's gonna be hard to do when serious fighting breaks out and the Iga clan is attacking both pokemon and trainers alike. I go to post! I don't think I've ever seen the use of potions in battles. The more comonly used healing item would be the Oren/Sitrus Berries. That's understandable, say the Pokemon is injured, he just pops a Berry and gets a little bit of HP. Potions, in the Anime, behave like rubbing alcohol. You have to spray it, rub it in, and then give it a minute. So I can't see that process happening in an actual battle.

Heh, I know you meant confusion flip. It's all so confusing!
Get it? Confusing? Like the move--Pun intended.

Honestly, I'm not sure I should even allow that last move to stand. While it is possible to Transform into an ally in a Double or Triple Battle this is a single battle. Ditto targeted a Pokémon with Transform that wasn't even on the battlefield. That smacks of all kinds of illegal. By that that logic it could've turned into anything from Satoshi's defeated Staraptor, or Inara's Pkachu. Against the ninjas I'd let it go but in a battlr like this where two Trainers are supposed to be playing by the rules...

OOC: You stated this was about using our moves creatively, I didn't think the legitimacy would be questioned. Limiting what Ditto can transform into is a bit odd in the first place, for a pokemon that can turn into anything from a rock, to an Arceus. Ditto can turn into an ally, like you said, which is in essence all he did. So the ally left the battlefield after the transformation was complete, that doesn't automatically mean Transform expires, does it? I didn't think Transform wore off considering he turns into a rock to sleep undisturbed. Plus, this Garchomp/Ditto isn't as strong as a normal Garchomp, naturally. Would it not be okay if I simply had two or even three Garchomps? Would it be illegal for me to have two or three Ditto? It's up to you, I can't go against the GM in his own RP, only point out what I think is debatable and what isn't. If I thought it was unreasonable, I wouldn't have posted it. At worst, it violates the spirit of game mechanics, which is what Staraptor did by cramming moves within moves within moves--telepathically or otherwise. Though that part, I liked, since it meant everyone else could do it too, I admit.
Oh I see, this is less about what's physically possible, and more about what's sportsman-like, correct? I didn't think it was horribly tasteless to be honest, just creative.

bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokémon_battleI don't see anything in this entire link that contradicts what Ditto has attempted to do in any way. It's simply a mechanic that hasn't been thought of, though I did watch a pokemon episode with Ditto turning into a cannon to shoot Pikachu at Team Rocket, during a violent encounter. I honestly can't see how Ditto using transform is all that bad, especially considering Ditto knows his teammates very well.

I already explained that it's possible, but we are in a battle with two Trainers that should be following the rules. Transform in a Pokémon League setting only has been shown to be used to transform into Pokémon Pokemon on the battlefield, Garchomp shouldn't have been eligible. When your battling people like Team Rocket rules go out the window.

If it were a Mew, it could have turned into any pokemon it wanted on the spot like it did in the movie. That's the true potential of Transform. As a Ditto, it can only go by memory, of which it has a decent amount of. That doesn't break any official pokemon league rules, it's simply a move whose target can be open to interpretation. Except I'm saying that he turned into a pokemon based on the experience of having done it before, not that he was targeting Garchomp in that moment.

We are in a single battle and Transform does target as you have to tell it what to Transform into. In a battle like the one we are having you can only Transforn into enemy Mon on the battlefield. Period.

Can we just agree and call a flag on G's move? Make a simple edit on who the Ditto turns into and we're done. Honestly this is why I hate dittos. Too many technicalities.

Transform can target both enemies and memories. There was no cannon anywhere nearby when Ditto turned into one, but that ability can't carry over into a battle, simply because you are convinced Ditto has to see (target) something to turn into it. I have shown that that is not the case, so that can't be the reason. Ditto has been shown to take the form of many pokemon and inanimate objects IRC in games and manga. To name one example from the Manga, Shu caught a Ditto that was taking the form of Moltres. Where was this "target" Moltres? You said my pokemon's move is only allowed to target another pokemon, implying he does not have access to it's own memories. I don't get it. No offense omfg, but your impatience has no bearing over my decisions when I'm trying to understand something. This has implications in the future, so I want to understand limits that are being imposed on my characters. The ability "Imposter" is what your describing: an ability that forces a pokemon with the move Transform to turn into it's opponent. My character's Ditto's ability is not Imposter, but somehow he has to suffer it's effects and limitations? www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKRXDlyHv1UThe above is a link to a game showing Ditto transforming into pokemon to defend itself; pokemon that are nowhere near the battlefield. A Ditto that can't do that is, a Ditto that has never seen or known the pokemon it transforms into. This is my last attempt to garner the facts around the move Transform.

Fact: I'm using a combination of Anime and game n=mechanics. As evidenced bu Confuse Ray. Fact: In the game you have to Transform into a Pokémon on the battlefield. Fact: In the anime when used in a battle like the one we are having. For fun, between Trainers it has been used like the game. Including an official Pokémon League Champion no less, in an official match. Fact: You said you wouldn't argue with my ruling and yet this post exists. My official ruling is as follows: Yes it is possible for your Ditto to do what it did. However it's not legal in a six on six single battle btween two rule abiding Trainers as the official League use for Transform is to copy your opponent on the field. You don't need to edit the post I'll just call it out in character. Once we get to fighting ninjas Ditto can go wild.

I said I wouldn't go against the GM, but I can see that it's actually the other way around. Confuse Ray was used in anime context, hence why you went with red eyes and instant confusion instead of an actual ray or beam which could've missed, not that that matters. Nothing I did was illegal in any context. The link you posted is showing a strategy, not a rule. I'm sure of it. But if nothing else but to soothe your fixation on having your biased way, I rest my case. As weird as it sounds, I mean that with all due respect Nesh. Go ahead and post, I don't really see a reason to edit anything if it's a physical possibility.

Go ahead and post, I don't really see a reason to edit anything if it's a physical possibility. Okay, you want to bring up Confuse Ray. Here are some facts on Confuse Ray: It has an accuracy of 100% That means with normal evasion, which your Machamp had, it would hit. That's game mechanics. That's even ignoring that fact that your Machamp had No Guard, so again it would've hit anyway. Once confused the mechanics I used, were the game mechanics. A 1 in 2 shot of hitting yorself. In the anime Machamp would've been stumbling around like a drunk and only hurting itself. My use use of Confuse Ray was completely consistent with the games. Would you like me to rewind the battle and use the anime mechanics?
