So yeah, I started watching Avatar. It might take me 2 months to get through, if I continue to watch just one episode a night, buuuuuuut... it's begun.

It just sucks so much that LoK was shafted by Nickelodeon because it didn't fit with its kid friendly audience. If that show had either 26 episodes, or 13 hour long episodes, it would have been godly. There just wasn't enough air time for them to explore all the themes they introduced properly, and still get Korra's character development in.
Still, when that series ended I was left with an Avatar-sized hole in my heart that was temporarily filled by the graphic novels but blossoms once again now that I read all of those. I NEED MORE. There were some rumors that Netflix was planning to pick up the series...

Because I doubt they really could do the former. Nick KNOWS it's got a powerful franchise and will most likely milk the Copyright for years to come.

Nick doesn't really see the value in Avatar. It doesn't really fit into their line up and it doesn't seem theyre interested in it at all.

See, while it doesn't "fit" into their line up on their regular channels, it does fit perfectly in with their Nicktoons line up. This also comes into play with a little term called "Self cannibalism" where a company will willingly pay to leave spaces open to prevent competition. Say that strip mall you see down the road with that store that's always empty. That's usually that popular restaurant paying two rents to keep it that way until say a game store comes in to bring in more service. Nick is doing this with Avatar by preventing it from going to another network that would give the creative team more leverage and freedom to do with what they want.

That business philosophy only works if Nickelodeon thinks it can make more money off of LoK than another company. Otherwise it's always more profitable to sell the license. Nickelodeon has already been known to be unsure of its ability to make money off of Korra even before Season 4 (which is why they faux-cancelled it, then released it with no budget only online). A license deal is, essentially, free money. You get some of the benefits but none of the downside and none of the risk. Which is why I think Sony will sell FF to Marvel as well (if Marvel wants it anyway). Same thing with Korra.

Thanks to a motivational bump by the guys in the Movie thread, and being in between Vita games after Platting that shitty Arkham spinoff, I finished Season 1 of Avatar last night. It deserves all the praise it gets. I should have watched it much sooner..

Who would have thought an episode about a giant flying bison could be so damn sad? Almost through Season 2; progressing faster than I originally thought.

Speaking of Bakugan, whatever happened with that? It end? Get cancelled? Or what? I liked it, but ended up dropping it since it was on earlier than I got up at the time. Also, I'm not the only one here that watched it, am I?

Time is starting to get away from me ... Anyways, good to see you're finally discovering A: tLA's greatness. As sad as Appa's Lost Days was, I'd say Iroh's segment of Tales of Ba Sing Se was even sadder, especially once you know what the little Mako tribute at the end is all about.
